Feb. 20.  There is a California state MMA competition (the only 1) on April 6th at Santa Ana, CA, including an youth division (for most DYNAMO members) which allows grappling and striking (but not to the head).  The event is organized by Amatuer Pankration League.  For more information please visit http://www.fightleague.org/2008CAPankrationChampionships.html.  Thanks to Mike Cernovich for the lead.

Feb. 20.  DYNAMO Club is now a chartered member of USA Wrestling (our country's main wrestling organization and organizer of Olympic teams, national competitions, etc.).  Thanks to coach Villegas for linking us.

Feb. 20.  There is NO Practice tomorrow Feb. 21.  Our room will be used by the city for some event.

Feb. 20.  A final reminder for people interested in competing at the Goltz Dojo Judo Tournament in early March.  If you intend to compete, please let sensei Brezhnev know today.  Participation in the event will help your Judo ranking tramendously, so we encourage all members to go.  Fee is $ 10, plus you will need to be a member of US Judo Association ($ 50 annual fee).

Feb. 20.  We welcome Alan Cariddi (the one in blue uniform in the picture below) to DYNAMO Club.  Alan is a 2nd degree Black belt in Judo, and won 2nd place NCAA in 2004 while at Georgetown University (5th place in US Senior National competition in 2002).

Feb 20.  With the Beverly HIlls High School wrestling completing their 2008 season, we will start daily warm-up around 3:30 pm weekdays, and practice from 4-6 pm.  If you like additional conditioning, taping or guidance, show up early.

February 11.  First photo of 2008.  With many of our newest members.  Stay tuned for more photos.

February 8.  A revision in practice schedule.  We will have practice on Friday Feb 15th (4-6) and Saturday (10-12).  Some DYNAMO members will be competing at the CIF Wrestling Finals but should not interfere with our daily practice schedules.

February 8.  DYNAMO welcomes new members:  Mikey Shlomof, Jimmy Shomof, Kevin Youssian, Daniel Berman, Sky Lucci, Christian Paul and Eliot Pourtavosi.  They are all students at Beverly Hills High School.  Photos and info coming soon.

February 8.  We are adding new equipment to complement our wrestling and mixed martial art training.  Two punching bags (1 light, 1 heavy) have been installed and ready-to-use.  And we have ordered multiple, weighed practice dummies (for throwing and grappling).  And thanks to members for bringing in their punch practice dummy (thanks Alex) and boxing gloves (thanks Mike).  We encourage and thank all members/parents for bringing extra equipment to share with us, and we hope to add more pieces for this new year.

February 5.  Newest DYNAMO Club Judo and SAMBO rankings are posted.  We are happy to announce that we have now 14 Judo Brown-belts, and we hope this year's competitions will help them all get closer to their goals/black belts.

February 3.  Congratulations to members of DYNAMO Club and Beverly Hills High School wrestling team who competed in the Pioneer League Wrestling finals at North Torrance High School yesterday.  Members Klar Kuo (215 lbs), George Abraham (130 lbs) and Brian Kim (145 lbs) won 3rd place, and Bagus Rahadian (119 lb) and Joey Schwartz (189 lb) won 4th places.  Their great finish have qualified them for the upcoming CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) divisional finals at the Marina High School on February 15.  This is where all the top high school wrestlers in southern CA will be competing in, before advancing to state-wide final.  We wish them the best of luck.

February 3.  Annoucement for upcoming Judo competition.  On March 1 there will be a Judo competition at the Gary Goltz Judo Club in Claremont, CA.  For those working towards your black belt in Judo, this is a great opportunity to advance/maintain your rankings until the bigger competitions in June and after.  Please let sensei Brezhnev know if you would like to compete.  Entry fee is only $10.

February 1.  DYNAMO members who are also members of Beverly Hills High School wrestling team will be competing at the CIF Pioneer League finals tomorrow at North Torrance High School.  We wish them the best of luck and advance to the regional finals two weeks from now.

February 1.  As noted in earlier emails to members, starting today (Feb. 1st), DYNAMO practices are open only to people who signed up or renewed their 2008 memberships.  We are enforcing this members-only requirement because that is what the high school and the city of Beverly Hills are asking us to do, to limit potential liabilities, and help limit our insurance and club upkeep costs.

For people working towards their black-belt/advanced ranking in Judo or SAMBO, do not let your memberships expire, because your previous rankings/accomplishments will be reset to zero, and we won't be able to reinstate those unless our club still exist (more money and more time on your part).  This is especially important to BROWN belts in Judo; you don't have much more to go before your BLACK belt.

If you are turned away, please be respectful of our new policy and of our practices.

If you want to stay with DYNAMO but lack the time, please renew now and come whenever you can.

If you want to stay with DYNAMO but lack the funds, please talk to sensei Brezhnev (bring your parents if under 18) to work out an arrangement.

If you wish to move on, or do not agree with our new policy, we wish you the best of luck moving on.

With most of our members finishing wrestling season and school semester, we look forward to a new start for the 2008 year.  We will be training for upcoming SAMBO/Judo competitions, continue MMA training and sparring sessions, and probably adding some equipment to complement our training.
